Jackson Marking Products Brief History

The company was originally formed in Chicago in 1961 on the kitchen table of Coy Jackson. Jackson Rubber Stamp Co. only made rubber stamps. Over the years since many transformations have taken place.

In 1966 rubber stamp manufacturing supplies and vulcanizers for molding rubber were added to the product line and the name of the company was changed to Jackson Rubber Stamp & Supply Co. The office was moved to the Chicago suburb of Schiller Park the following year.

World Headquarters

Being a mail-order business, an urban location was not required so in 1975 the decision was made to move the business to Mt. Vernon, Illinois in the rural southern part of the state. A new building was constructed to accommodate the needs of the growing enterprise.

To reflect the expanding product-line of the firm, in 1980 the name was changed to Jackson Marking Products Co. In 1983, a machine shop operation began production of the first “Precision Press” vulcanizers. The machine line soon expanded into “Polymer Plus” photopolymer exposure units and other production machines. Thousands of machines were built over the years, but market demand and changes in technology resulted in the closure of the machine shop in 2020

Some of the company’s current products

Throughout the years the core product has been and continues to be made-to-order custom stamps. With capabilities for laser engraving, UV printing, sublimation and other processes the product line has now expanded to include signs, name badges, plaques, desk name plates, drinkware, flasks and hundreds of other personalized goods.
The other business focus is providing supplies and equipment for making stamps. Materials for creating stamps dies (rubber, photopolymer, laser materials) and the blank stamps (wood mounts, self-inkers, pre-inked mounts) along with supporting stamp makers with technical assistance are a large part of the business. We can proudly say that we are the largest distributor of Brother Stampcreator equipment and supplies in the United States and are a major distributor of Trodat/IDEAL brand stamp products.

JMP is owned and operated by the Jackson family, with Coy’s son and daughter Tom and Sandy at the helm and Tom’s daughter Casey as the third generation involved in the family business.
